Translation is often one of the first steps we take in our partnerships to make our resources accessible to more people. In the past, we have either worked directly with translators or translated content through partner organisations, who have their own roster and expertise. On our translation page, we’ve outlined what translations exist from Glass Room and What the Future Wants materials.
In addition to translation, some resources are further localised. Localisation is the process of adapting materials to specific linguistic, cultural, demographic or regional contexts. Sometimes the extra step of localising makes all the difference. Some materials might be translated to Spanish for example, but since Spanish is spoken in more than 10 countries, spanning Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe, many regional linguistic variations exist. Localisation makes the original translation more relateable. Our English resources are also localised, sometimes the title of posters, examples given or colours are changed to be more relateable.
